Garage Clearance in Dublin

Garages are where the house keeps what it can’t throw out. Tools, timber, tins of paint, the exercise bike, the second fridge. We clear the lot across Dublin and deal properly with the awkward stuff.

Outside Dublin this is part of our house clearance service: KildareWicklowKilkennyLaoisCarlowMeathLouthLongfordOffalyWestmeathWexford

Garage full of tools, timber and junk before clearance in Dublin

A garage clearance is a different beast from a house clearance. Less furniture, more weight: timber, tiles, bags of cement that have gone hard, car parts, a lawnmower that hasn’t started since 2015, paint tins, bottles of something, a chest freezer with the door taped shut. Much of it needs separating — paint, oil and chemicals can’t go in with the general load, timber is cheaper to dispose of on its own, metal is worth keeping apart.

We sort as we load so each stream goes where it should, and we’re permitted to carry it. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. We’re based in Athy and run into Dublin daily — city-centre jobs are about 75 minutes from our yard, which is why we schedule Dublin work in rounds rather than one-offs, and why our quotes for Dublin don’t carry a long-distance premium.

Full garage clearance in Dublin

Back to the walls and the floor. Shelving down if you want it gone, workbench out, everything on it and under it, the roof-space storage, the back corner nobody has reached in a decade. We separate timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous liquids and general waste on the way out and sweep the floor at the end. A single garage is normally a half-day with one truck; a double garage that’s been a workshop and a dump for thirty years is a day and often two loads because of the weight.

If the garage is being converted — into a room, a home office, a gym — we clear to a standard the builder can start on, including taking old fittings and any loose render off the floor.

Partial garage clearance in Dublin

The old appliances. The pile of timber. The tyres. The thirty paint tins. A partial garage job is usually about one category of thing that you can’t get rid of any other way — and often it’s the category the council site won’t take, or charges extra for. We’ll collect just that and leave your garage otherwise as it was.

What we take — and what we don’t

  • Timber, pallets, old doors and offcuts
  • Tools, workbenches, shelving and racking
  • Paint, varnish, oil, chemicals and garden treatments (household quantities)
  • Tyres, car parts, bikes and lawnmowers
  • Fridges, freezers, washing machines and old electricals
  • Tiles, bagged cement, small amounts of rubble and plasterboard
  • Garden furniture, tools, pots and the general overflow from the house

Not included: Asbestos (including old corrugated garage roofs — we can advise); Full fuel cans and gas cylinders with gas in them; Vehicles — ask, we can point you to a licensed end-of-life facility.

Garage Clearance across Dublin: every area we cover

We provide a garage clearance in all 161 areas below, and at the rural addresses between them. Dublin is four local authorities, not one, and that matters more than most people realise when they’re getting rid of things. Dublin City Council runs a bookable bulky-waste collection; Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown don’t collect bulky waste at all. Where you live decides what the council will and won’t do for you — so on this page we’ve split the county by council area, named every area we cover, and set out exactly what each council offers so you can compare it with simply calling us.

Housing stock varies enormously: Victorian and Edwardian terraces on the canals with narrow halls and no off-street parking, 1930s–60s semis in Crumlin, Cabra, Drimnagh and Finglas, the big apartment developments along the Luas lines and in the Docklands, and newer estates on the edges in Fingal and South Dublin. Access is the thing that changes a Dublin job: parking suspensions on the quays, management-company rules in apartment blocks, and the three-storey Georgian house with everything in the attic.

Doing it yourself in Dublin: what the councils offer

Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Dublin’s four councils will and won’t do for a garage clearance. Timber is taken at Ringsend Recycling Centre, North Strand Recycling Centre and Ballymun Recycling Centre, usually cheaper than general waste if it’s kept separate. Small amounts of household rubble and plasterboard are accepted at Ringsend Recycling Centre, North Strand Recycling Centre and Ballymun Recycling Centre. Grangegorman Bring Centre, Oscar Traynor Road Bring Centre (Coolock) and Gullistan Terrace Bring Centre (Rathmines) won’t take construction waste. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Household paint, oil and chemicals are accepted at Ringsend Recycling Centre, North Strand Recycling Centre and Ballymun Recycling Centre, usually for a small charge. Watch the vehicle rules: Vans and vehicles with a double-axle trailer pay €95; car with single-axle trailer €55. Full large or commercial vans are not accepted. Household use only.

Dublin City Council — runs a bookable bulky household waste collection: Bulky Household Waste Collection Service for all households in the DCC area (domestic only, not commercial premises). Book online via Citizen Hub (citizenhub.dublincity.ie) or phone (01) 222 2222; pay in advance by debit/credit card. €50 per collection for up to 5 items (a three-piece suite counts as 3 items); each additional 5 items +€50. Normally contacted within 5 working days; collection may take up to 10 days after payment, Mon–Fri 8am–3pm, and you cannot choose the date. Items go on the public footpath on the morning of collection (not collected from gardens, sheds or inside). Full refund if cancelled at least 24 hours before the collection date. Accepts household furniture, bedding and mattresses, carpets, kitchen units/worktops/sinks, doors, bathroom and toilet suites, bicycles, ladders, garden furniture and barbecues, fully drained oil tanks/boilers/radiators, children's swings/slides, prams/buggies/large toys. Not accepted: bagged household or bin waste, garden waste, rubble/soil/plasterboard/asbestos, large amounts of renovation waste, glass, gas cylinders, paints and other hazardous waste, batteries, fluorescent tubes, electrical goods.

Fingal County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Fingal County Council does not offer a bulky waste collection service. Use an authorised collector with a National Waste Collection Permit Office (NWCPO) permit – the council publishes a list – or bring items to Coolmine or Estuary recycling centres for the per-vehicle fee.

South Dublin County Council — no bulky-waste collection. No council bulky collection – SDCC exited the waste collection service in 2011 and has no plans to reintroduce it. Residents use permitted private collectors or bring items to Ballymount Civic Amenity. The council runs periodic free community initiatives with social enterprise RecycleIT, e.g. a mattress amnesty (in 2025 mattresses could also be dropped free at RecycleIT, Crag Industrial Estate, D22) and door-to-door WEEE collection days before Halloween.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council — no bulky-waste collection. DLR transferred its household waste collection service to private companies in 2010 and offers no bulky-waste kerbside collection. Residents use permitted private collectors or bring items to Ballyogan Recycling Park. Occasional free Mattress Amnesty Days are held at Ballyogan (most recent: Saturday 5 September 2026, 9:30am–5:30pm).

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.

Or we come to you

Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.

How a garage clearance works with us

  1. Photos. A wide shot from the door and a couple of close-ups of the heavy stuff. Tell us if there are chemicals, tyres or a freezer.
  2. Fixed price. Quoted on what we see, with the separate streams (hazardous, tyres, WEEE) priced honestly.
  3. The clearance. Sorted as we load — timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous and general on the truck separately.
  4. Swept and done. Floor swept, shelving left or taken as agreed, photos sent.

Garage Clearance in Dublin — our crew loading the truck on a recent job

What affects the price in Dublin

  • Weight — the big factor in garages; timber, tiles and cement cost by the tonne to dispose of
  • Hazardous items — paint, oil and chemicals have separate disposal costs
  • Tyres and appliances — priced per item
  • Access — a garage at the end of a long garden versus one on the driveway
  • Reuse and scrap — tools, metal and good timber reduce the bill

We’re based in Athy and run into Dublin daily — city-centre jobs are about 75 minutes from our yard, which is why we schedule Dublin work in rounds rather than one-offs, and why our quotes for Dublin don’t carry a long-distance premium. Send photos through the quote form or on WhatsApp and you’ll have a fixed price the same day.

Garage Clearance in Dublin: frequently asked questions

Do you take paint, oil and chemicals?

Yes, in household quantities, separated from the general load and taken to a facility that handles them. There is a per-item or per-litre cost for these — we show it on the quote rather than hiding it.

Do you take tyres?

Yes, priced per tyre. Most council sites either refuse tyres or charge for them.

What about the old chest freezer?

Fridges and freezers go for WEEE recycling — the council sites take them free and we take them as part of the job. Empty it first if you can; if you can’t, tell us and we’ll deal with it.

Can you take the garage shelving and workbench?

Yes, dismantled and taken, or left if you want to keep it. Metal racking goes for scrap, which helps the price.

Will you clear it ready for a conversion?

Yes — back to bare walls and floor, old fittings off, loose material up. Tell the builder to send us their list.

Garage, shed and attic together in Dublin?

Absolutely, and it’s the most cost-effective way to do it — one crew, one truck, one day. See the shed clearance and attic clearance pages for Dublin.

Can you take a car engine or heavy machinery?

If it can be moved by two people or a sack truck, yes. Engine blocks, lathes and the like are heavy but fine. Anything needing a crane we arrange separately.

Do you take asbestos garage roofs?

No — asbestos cement sheets need a licensed contractor. We’ll point you to one and clear the garage once the roof is done.

What about half-full paint tins and old creosote?

Household quantities, yes, separated and taken for proper disposal. We charge per item for these because the facilities charge us per litre.

Can you clear a garage that’s been used as a workshop?

Yes — benches, vices, racking, tools, offcuts and swarf. Tools and metal are set aside for reuse or scrap, which brings the price down.

Do you offer same-day garage clearance in Dublin?

Sometimes. Dublin jobs are grouped into runs, so next-day is more realistic than same-day, but ask.

Does the council collect bulky items in Dublin?

Dublin City Council does — a bookable collection at €50 for up to five items, with a wait of up to ten days, for furniture and mattresses but not electricals, garden waste or rubble. Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown offer no bulky collection at all. Details are in the council section above.

How far is Dublin from your base?

We’re based in Athy and run into Dublin daily — city-centre jobs are about 75 minutes from our yard, which is why we schedule Dublin work in rounds rather than one-offs, and why our quotes for Dublin don’t carry a long-distance premium.
