A house clearance is rarely only about getting things out of a building. It usually follows something — a parent moving into care, a sale that has to close, a tenancy ending, a family deciding it’s finally time. What you need from the people doing it is simple: they turn up, they work carefully, they don’t make you feel judged about the state of the place, and when they leave the house is empty and ready for whatever comes next.
ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, an authorised waste carrier holding Waste Collection Permit No. NWCPO-25-13287-01 from the NWCPO. Louth is the furthest county we cover — Drogheda is about an hour and a half from Athy, Ardee and Dunleer a little more, and Dundalk and the Cooley peninsula around two hours. We run Louth jobs in batches, usually one or two days a fortnight, so we can keep the price fair; the trade-off is that we’ll offer you a date rather than a same-week slot.

Full house clearance in Louth
Every room, top to bottom, including the attic, the garage, the shed and the garden. We take furniture, beds and mattresses, wardrobes and their contents, kitchen units and appliances, carpets and curtains if you want them gone, the contents of presses and drawers, and the general household waste that builds up in the corners. We sweep as we go and leave the property broom-clean. A full clearance is the right call when a house is being sold, handed back to a landlord, or passed on after a death and nobody is moving in.
Before we start we walk the house with you (or go through it on a video call) and agree what stays. Anything you want kept — paperwork, photographs, jewellery, the good dinner service — gets set aside in one room and nothing in that room is touched. A typical three-bed semi is a day’s work for a crew of two or three with one truck load; a large family home with a full attic and garage is usually two loads and a day and a half.
Partial house clearance in Louth
Not every job is the whole house. Often it’s one room that’s become a store, the bulky items that won’t go in the car, the furniture that didn’t sell, or the half of a house that a family member hasn’t got around to. We do single rooms, single floors, “just the big stuff”, and “everything except what’s tagged”. A partial clearance is priced on what actually comes out, not on the size of the house, and it’s often done in a couple of hours.
Partial clearances are also the sensible first step when a family isn’t ready for the whole house. Clear the attic and the garage now, come back for the rest when the sale goes through. We’re happy to do it in stages.

House Clearance across Co. Louth: every town we cover
We provide a house clearance in all 29 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Louth is Ireland’s smallest county but it has two of its biggest towns: Drogheda in the south, straddling the Boyne, and Dundalk in the north under the Cooley mountains, with Ardee, Dunleer and the Castlebellingham villages between them and a run of coastal villages from Baltray up to Carlingford and Omeath. Louth County Council does not collect bulky waste. Its two civic amenity centres at Dundalk and Drogheda (both run by V&W Recycling) charge a €4 entry plus item charges that aren’t published online, and the annual mattress-and-couch amnesty in early September is the only free route for furniture.
Drogheda and Dundalk both have Victorian town-centre terraces, 1950s–70s council-built estates and large 2000s developments on the edges, plus apartment schemes near the stations and the quays. Ardee, Dunleer and the villages are smaller-scale, with farmhouses and bungalows on their own sites across mid-Louth and the Cooley peninsula. Town-centre parking in Drogheda and Dundalk is the main access issue.

Doing it yourself in Louth: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Louth County Council will and won’t do for a house clearance. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Dundalk Recycling Centre (V&W Civic Amenity Centre) and Drogheda Recycling Centre (V&W Civic Amenity Centre). Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Cars and car trailers admitted (trailer charge applies for green waste); no commercial vehicles or commercial waste. Van policy not published - ring ahead.
Louth County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Louth County Council does not collect household waste or bulky items and has no bookable bulky-waste service. It directs residents to the two civic amenity centres in Dundalk and Drogheda, both run by V&W Recycling, where beds, couches, carpet/lino, children's toys and bags of non-recyclable domestic waste are accepted for a charge (ring 042 9329200 or 041 9803900 for the price list - V&W do not publish bulky prices online), or to the nine authorised bulky-waste / skip operators the council lists (e.g. Pronto Waste Clearance & Recycling 087 2912911, Skips on Wheels 083 1552410). Once a year, under the Anti-Dumping Initiative, the council runs a free Mattress & Couch Amnesty, normally over two days in early September: in 2025 it was Wed 3 September 9:30am–5:30pm at the V&W centres in Dundalk and Drogheda and Thu 4 September 9:30am–3:30pm at Kieran & McGee Livestock Sales Yard, Ardee (A92 VP92); in 2024 it was 11–12 September at the same three locations. Only mattresses, sofas and armchairs are taken, maximum 3 items per vehicle, the council covers the disposal cost but the normal €4 entry charge still applies at Dundalk and Drogheda (Ardee is free). The 2025 event took in 2,233 mattresses and 2,124 couches. Dates are announced on louthcoco.ie and in the Dundalk Democrat / Drogheda Independent in August.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How a house clearance works with us
Send photos. A photo of each room through the quote form or on WhatsApp is enough. For large houses we’ll call out and look.
Agree the job. You get a fixed price, a date and a note of what’s being kept. No surprises on the day.
The clearance. A crew of two or three with a box truck. We load, sort for reuse and recycling on the truck, and sweep through.
Afterwards. Keys handed back as agreed. If you find something later that should have been kept, ring us straight away — we hold loads for a short time.

What affects the price in Louth
Volume — how many truck loads, which is why photos matter
Access — stairs, a long carry from the road, no parking, a lift or none
Weight — books, tiles, a workshop full of tools cost more to dispose of than a wardrobe
What can be reused — good furniture lowers the disposal cost and we pass that on
Timing — a fixed date on short notice costs more than “any day this week”

House Clearance in Louth: frequently asked questions
How much does a house clearance cost in Louth?
A single room or a bulky-items-only job usually starts in the low hundreds; a full three-bed house is typically a day’s work for a crew and one truck load; larger houses with full attics and garages are more. The exact figure depends on volume, access and what can be reused, so send photos of each room and you’ll have a fixed price the same day.
Do I have to be there on the day?
No. Plenty of our customers hand over a key or give us the code to a key safe, or an estate agent or neighbour lets us in. We agree what’s being kept in writing before we start and send you photos when we’re done.
Can you keep certain items aside?
Yes. Tag them, put them in one room, or send us a list. That room is off-limits to the crew and we double-check the list before we leave. If you find afterwards that something went that shouldn’t have, call us immediately — loads are held for a short time before they’re sorted.
What happens to the furniture and belongings?
They’re sorted on the truck. Good furniture and household goods are set aside for reuse where possible; recyclable materials are separated; the remainder goes to authorised waste facilities under our collection permit. Nothing is dumped, and you can have the facility details for the load if you want them.
Can you clear a house after a bereavement?
Yes — it’s a large part of what we do. We work at the family’s pace, can liaise with the executor or solicitor on access and timing, and we’re careful with paperwork and personal items. There’s a separate page on bereavement clearance in Louth with more detail.
Do you clean as well as clear?
We sweep and leave the property broom-clean as standard. A proper end-of-tenancy or pre-sale clean is a separate job — ask when you book and we’ll quote both together.
Which parts of Louth do you cover?
All of it — every town and village listed on this page, and the rural addresses in between. If your townland isn’t named, it’s still covered.
Can you clear a house in one day?
Most three- and four-bed houses, yes — one crew, one day, one or two truck loads. Larger houses with full attics, garages and years of contents can run into a second day; we tell you before we start, not after.
Do you charge extra for stairs or awkward access?
Access is part of the quote, not an extra on the day. A fourth-floor walk-up or a long carry down a lane costs more than a bungalow with a driveway, and we price that from your photos so there are no surprises.
What if the house hasn’t been lived in for a while?
We deal with that regularly — damp, mould, a freezer that was switched off, mice in the press. Tell us what you know and we’ll bring what’s needed. Serious pest problems are best treated before we arrive.
How far in advance should I book in Louth?
A week is comfortable; a few days is usually fine. We run Louth in rounds, so the earlier we know the more likely we can fit your preferred date.
Can you give a rough price over the phone?
A rough range, yes, if you describe the house. A firm price needs photos — one of each room — and takes us about ten minutes once we have them. We never quote blind and then change it on the day.
Does Louth County Council collect bulky items?
No. Louth County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Louth from your base?
Louth is the furthest county we cover — Drogheda is about an hour and a half from Athy, Ardee and Dunleer a little more, and Dundalk and the Cooley peninsula around two hours. We run Louth jobs in batches, usually one or two days a fortnight, so we can keep the price fair; the trade-off is that we’ll offer you a date rather than a same-week slot.
