Sofa and couch disposal in Dublin

Corner sofas, sofa beds, recliners and three-piece suites carried out of your house or apartment anywhere in Dublin — unbolted if they need to be — and taken away.

Old sofa being carried out for disposal in Dublin

A sofa is usually the first thing people search for help with: it’s the biggest thing in the house, it won’t fit in a car, and the new one is often already on its way. Dublin City Council runs a bookable bulky-waste collection: €50 for up to five items, paid in advance, with the items left out on the public footpath on the morning of collection. You can’t choose the day, and it can take up to ten days after you pay. Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown don’t collect bulky items from homes at all. Under the Dublin City Council scheme a three-piece suite counts as three items.

We take it from the room it’s in, on the day you need.

What we take

  • Two- and three-seater sofas and couches
  • Corner and modular sofas — unbolted into sections
  • Sofa beds, with the metal mechanism
  • Recliners, including electric recliners
  • Armchairs, footstools and three-piece suites
  • Leather, fabric and futons

When the new sofa is arriving

Not every shop takes the old sofa away when it delivers the new one. Book us for the day before, or the morning of, and the space is clear when the new one comes in.

Out of the house without damage

Corner sofas come apart into their sections; feet come off; sofa beds have their mechanism folded or removed. The crew protects door frames, banisters and floors, and takes the sofa out the way it came in. In apartment blocks we book the lift and follow the building’s removal rules.

Reuse where possible

A sofa in good condition is set aside for reuse where we can. The rest is sorted, and the electrical parts of power recliners go for WEEE recycling. Nothing is dumped.

More than the sofa?

We can take the rest of the room on the same visit — tables, chairs, the old TV unit. See furniture removal in Dublin, or mattress disposal for the bedrooms.

How it works

  1. Photo of the sofa. Plus the doorway or stairs it has to come through, and the floor.
  2. Fixed price. Including the carrying and any dismantling.
  3. Your day. Timed around your new sofa’s delivery if you like.
  4. Out and gone. Carried out, loaded and sorted for reuse, recycling and authorised disposal.

Sofa disposal: common questions

Does the council collect sofas in Dublin?

Dublin City Council does, through its paid bulky-waste collection, but the sofa has to be out on the public footpath on the morning of collection and you can’t pick the date. Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown don’t collect sofas.

Can you get a corner sofa out?

Yes. Corner and modular sofas unbolt into sections; we take them apart in the room.

Will you take a sofa from an upstairs apartment?

Yes. We book the lift where there is one and carry it down where there isn’t.

Do you take electric recliners?

Yes. The motor and wiring go for electrical (WEEE) recycling.

Can you come before my new sofa is delivered?

Yes — tell us the delivery date and we’ll book the day before or that morning.

How much does sofa disposal cost in Dublin?

It depends on the size of the sofa and how easy it is to get out. Send a photo and we’ll give you a fixed price.

What happens to my old sofa?

Good sofas are set aside for reuse where possible; the rest goes to authorised waste facilities under our permit.
