A house clearance is rarely only about getting things out of a building. It usually follows something — a parent moving into care, a sale that has to close, a tenancy ending, a family deciding it’s finally time. What you need from the people doing it is simple: they turn up, they work carefully, they don’t make you feel judged about the state of the place, and when they leave the house is empty and ready for whatever comes next.
ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, an authorised waste carrier holding Waste Collection Permit No. NWCPO-25-13287-01 from the NWCPO. Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip.

Full house clearance in Meath
Every room, top to bottom, including the attic, the garage, the shed and the garden. We take furniture, beds and mattresses, wardrobes and their contents, kitchen units and appliances, carpets and curtains if you want them gone, the contents of presses and drawers, and the general household waste that builds up in the corners. We sweep as we go and leave the property broom-clean. A full clearance is the right call when a house is being sold, handed back to a landlord, or passed on after a death and nobody is moving in.
Before we start we walk the house with you (or go through it on a video call) and agree what stays. Anything you want kept — paperwork, photographs, jewellery, the good dinner service — gets set aside in one room and nothing in that room is touched. A typical three-bed semi is a day’s work for a crew of two or three with one truck load; a large family home with a full attic and garage is usually two loads and a day and a half.
Partial house clearance in Meath
Not every job is the whole house. Often it’s one room that’s become a store, the bulky items that won’t go in the car, the furniture that didn’t sell, or the half of a house that a family member hasn’t got around to. We do single rooms, single floors, “just the big stuff”, and “everything except what’s tagged”. A partial clearance is priced on what actually comes out, not on the size of the house, and it’s often done in a couple of hours.
Partial clearances are also the sensible first step when a family isn’t ready for the whole house. Clear the attic and the garage now, come back for the rest when the sale goes through. We’re happy to do it in stages.

- Mattresses and bed bases
- Kitchen appliances, white goods and small electricals (WEEE)
- Carpets, curtains, blinds and rugs
- The contents of presses, drawers, wardrobes and the hot press
- Books, clothes, bric-a-brac and general household items
- Attic, garage, shed and outbuilding contents
- Garden furniture, tools and general garden clutter
- Bagged general waste and the odds and ends that don’t fit a category
Not included: Asbestos and hazardous materials (we can advise who to call); Full oil tanks, gas cylinders and fuel; Large quantities of construction rubble (ask — we can often arrange it).
House Clearance across Co. Meath: every town we cover
We provide a house clearance in all 52 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Meath is big and busy: the commuter towns along the Dublin border (Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Clonee) grew enormously in the 2000s; Navan, Trim and Kells are the old market towns in the middle; the coast strip from Laytown to Mornington looks to Drogheda; and the north and west — Oldcastle, Nobber, Athboy, Enfield — is rural and quiet. Meath County Council runs no bulky-waste collection. Its three recycling centres (Navan, Kells, Trim) charge a flat gate fee plus a price per item of furniture, and there is no council site at all in east Meath — people in Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne and the coast are sent to Dunboyne’s private facility or across the county line.
Expect large 2000s estates of semis and townhouses in the commuter towns, plenty of apartment schemes in Ashbourne, Navan and Dunboyne with management-company rules, Georgian and Victorian terraces in Navan, Trim and Kells town centres, and farmhouses with yards and outbuildings across the rest of the county. Long driveways and rural lanes are more of a factor here than parking.

Doing it yourself in Meath: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Meath County Council will and won’t do for a house clearance. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Navan Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), Kells Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site) and Trim Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), with mattresses charged separately (Per item on top of the gate fee: single mattress €15, double €20, king €25 (Oxigen's own list says €30), mattress topper/duvet €5–€10, single divan €10, double divan €15, 3-seater couch €20, 2-seater €15, corner couch €35, armchair €12, patio table €10, patio chair €5, large carpet/lino roll €25, small roll €15, bag of carpet/lino €5, standard refuse sack of mixed domestic or non-recyclable waste €5, large plastic toy €5, toilet/cistern/basin €5, bath/shower tray €10). Dunboyne Recycling Facility (Thorntons Recycling) does not accept furniture or mattresses at all. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Cars, vans and trailers admitted; vans and trailers pay load-based rates (green waste small van €10, large van €50). Commercial vehicles charged separately (timber €40 per van or €1.50 per pallet, scrap metal €50 per load, cardboard €30 per van, paper €40 per van). Fair-usage policy applies.
Meath County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Meath County Council does not collect household or bulky waste from homes and does not run a bookable bulky-item collection. Bulky household waste is to be brought to the three council recycling centres at Navan, Kells and Trim (run under contract by Oxigen Environmental), where it is charged per item on top of a €2 gate fee, or to Thorntons Dunboyne. Alternatively use an authorised private collector (check the NWCPO permit register). The council does run several free amnesty / drop-off weeks each year: a free mattress drop-off (typically April; e.g. Navan 18 April, Trim 19 April, Thorntons Dunboyne 19 April, Kells 20 April in 2024), a free bulky-furniture week in late July/August (couches, beds, chairs, tables, wardrobes, outdoor furniture, garden equipment, toys, trampolines, flooring, sanitary ware - mattresses excluded) rotating through Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunboyne, and a Halloween anti-bonfire drop-off in late October (furniture suites, beds, divans, bed frames, flooring, duvets, pillows, toys, doors, windows - no mattresses, paint, domestic or green waste). Rules: householders only, Meath residents only (bring photo ID plus a utility bill or driving licence), no commercial customers, and the €2 gate fee still applies. The council said in April 2026 the mattress amnesty and a sofa amnesty would run again in 2026; dates are announced on meath.ie, the council's social media and in the Meath Chronicle, and enquiries go to environment@meathcoco.ie.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How a house clearance works with us
Send photos. A photo of each room through the quote form or on WhatsApp is enough. For large houses we’ll call out and look.
Agree the job. You get a fixed price, a date and a note of what’s being kept. No surprises on the day.
The clearance. A crew of two or three with a box truck. We load, sort for reuse and recycling on the truck, and sweep through.
Afterwards. Keys handed back as agreed. If you find something later that should have been kept, ring us straight away — we hold loads for a short time.

What affects the price in Meath
Volume — how many truck loads, which is why photos matter
Access — stairs, a long carry from the road, no parking, a lift or none
Weight — books, tiles, a workshop full of tools cost more to dispose of than a wardrobe
What can be reused — good furniture lowers the disposal cost and we pass that on
Timing — a fixed date on short notice costs more than “any day this week”
Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip. Send photos through the quote form or on WhatsApp and you’ll have a fixed price the same day.

House Clearance in Meath: frequently asked questions
How much does a house clearance cost in Meath?
A single room or a bulky-items-only job usually starts in the low hundreds; a full three-bed house is typically a day’s work for a crew and one truck load; larger houses with full attics and garages are more. The exact figure depends on volume, access and what can be reused, so send photos of each room and you’ll have a fixed price the same day.
Do I have to be there on the day?
No. Plenty of our customers hand over a key or give us the code to a key safe, or an estate agent or neighbour lets us in. We agree what’s being kept in writing before we start and send you photos when we’re done.
Can you keep certain items aside?
Yes. Tag them, put them in one room, or send us a list. That room is off-limits to the crew and we double-check the list before we leave. If you find afterwards that something went that shouldn’t have, call us immediately — loads are held for a short time before they’re sorted.
What happens to the furniture and belongings?
They’re sorted on the truck. Good furniture and household goods are set aside for reuse where possible; recyclable materials are separated; the remainder goes to authorised waste facilities under our collection permit. Nothing is dumped, and you can have the facility details for the load if you want them.
Can you clear a house after a bereavement?
Yes — it’s a large part of what we do. We work at the family’s pace, can liaise with the executor or solicitor on access and timing, and we’re careful with paperwork and personal items. There’s a separate page on bereavement clearance in Meath with more detail.
Do you clean as well as clear?
We sweep and leave the property broom-clean as standard. A proper end-of-tenancy or pre-sale clean is a separate job — ask when you book and we’ll quote both together.
Which parts of Meath do you cover?
All of it — every town and village listed on this page, and the rural addresses in between. If your townland isn’t named, it’s still covered.
Can you clear a house in one day?
Most three- and four-bed houses, yes — one crew, one day, one or two truck loads. Larger houses with full attics, garages and years of contents can run into a second day; we tell you before we start, not after.
Do you charge extra for stairs or awkward access?
Access is part of the quote, not an extra on the day. A fourth-floor walk-up or a long carry down a lane costs more than a bungalow with a driveway, and we price that from your photos so there are no surprises.
What if the house hasn’t been lived in for a while?
We deal with that regularly — damp, mould, a freezer that was switched off, mice in the press. Tell us what you know and we’ll bring what’s needed. Serious pest problems are best treated before we arrive.
How far in advance should I book in Meath?
A week is comfortable; a few days is usually fine. We run Meath in rounds, so the earlier we know the more likely we can fit your preferred date.
Can you give a rough price over the phone?
A rough range, yes, if you describe the house. A firm price needs photos — one of each room — and takes us about ten minutes once we have them. We never quote blind and then change it on the day.
Does Meath County Council collect bulky items?
No. Meath County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Meath from your base?
Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip.
