Apartment Clearance in Co. Offaly
Purpose-built apartments come with their own rules — lifts to book, bin stores you can’t use for furniture, management companies to keep onside. We clear apartments across Offaly without the drama.
Apartment Clearance by county: DublinKildareWicklowKilkennyLaoisCarlowMeathLouthLongfordOffalyWestmeathWexford

An apartment clearance is a logistics job as much as a lifting one. The furniture is the same as a house — a sofa, a bed, a wardrobe, a table — but it has to come down a stairwell or through a lift that may need to be booked and protected, out through a lobby with a door code, past a bin store that explicitly bans bulky items, and onto a truck that is allowed to stop for twenty minutes at most. Get any of that wrong and the management company is on the phone.
We do this every week. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01, with public liability insurance that management agents will ask to see — we send it before we arrive. Offaly is closer to us than people expect: Edenderry is 40 minutes from Athy, Tullamore about an hour, Clara and Kilcormac a little more, and Birr, Banagher and the Shannon villages about an hour and a quarter. We’re in Offaly most weeks, so there’s usually a slot within a few days.

Full apartment clearance in Offaly
Everything out: furniture, beds and mattresses, white goods if the apartment isn’t being let furnished, the contents of the kitchen presses and the hot press, the balcony furniture and the bikes nobody collected. We protect the lift and the corridor walls, carry what won’t fit the lift down the stairs, and stage it in the loading bay or on the street in short bursts so nothing sits blocking a fire route. Most one- and two-bed apartments are a half-day job with one truck; a large three-bed penthouse with a full balcony is a day.
If it’s a landlord’s apartment between tenancies, we photograph it empty for your records. If it’s a sale, we leave it ready for the agent’s photographer.
Partial apartment clearance in Offaly
The most common apartment job we do is partial: the old sofa and mattress a tenant left behind, the furniture that won’t fit the new place, the contents of one bedroom that’s become storage. Small apartment jobs are quick — often under an hour on site — so they’re priced accordingly. We can also do a “swap”: remove the old sofa the morning the new one is delivered so you’re never without one.
What we take — and what we don’t
- Sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture
- White goods and small appliances
- Kitchen and bathroom contents
- Balcony furniture, plant pots, bikes
- Carpets, rugs, blinds and curtains
- Boxed belongings and general household waste
- Items dumped in bin stores and communal areas (for management companies)
Not included: Hazardous materials; Items belonging to other residents without the management company’s written say-so.
Apartment Clearance across Co. Offaly: every town we cover
We provide an apartment clearance in all 37 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Offaly runs from the Kildare border at Edenderry across the bog country to the Shannon at Banagher and Shannonbridge, with Tullamore in the middle, Birr in the south-west and Clara, Ferbane and Kilcormac between. Offaly County Council has no bulky-waste collection but it does run three civic amenity sites — Derryclure outside Tullamore, Birr and Edenderry — all with a €3 car entry: Derryclure weighs furniture at 19c a kilo, while Birr and Edenderry charge per couch, armchair and bag, and Edenderry takes no garden waste, timber or rubble at all.
Tullamore has Georgian and Victorian terraces around the canal, 1960s–80s estates and big 2000s developments; Edenderry grew fast as a commuter town; Birr is a Georgian heritage town with tight streets; and the rest of the county is farmhouses, bungalows and villages with plenty of sheds. The old bog-village cottages often come with decades of accumulation.

Doing it yourself in Offaly: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Offaly County Council will and won’t do for an apartment clearance. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Derryclure Civic Amenity Site & Waste Recycling Facility and Edenderry Recycling Centre, with mattresses charged separately (Mattress €10 single / €18 double). Birr Recycling Centre does not accept furniture or mattresses at all. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Small vans (€10) and large vans (€20) admitted; single-axle trailer €10, double-axle €20; domestic waste only.
Offaly County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Offaly County Council does not run a household or bulky-waste kerbside collection. Bin collection is by private permitted collectors, and bulky items (furniture, mattresses, carpets) go to one of the three council civic amenity sites at Tullamore (Derryclure), Birr and Edenderry, all operated for the council by Oxigen Environmental, or are taken away by an authorised private collector. The council runs periodic free Mattress Amnesty days with Cirtex and Oxigen: in September 2025 one Saturday (10am to 2pm) at each of Birr, Edenderry and Derryclure, limit four mattresses per household, householders only, no commercial users.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How an apartment clearance works with us
Photos and the building. Send photos plus the floor, lift situation and parking. Tell us if the management company needs insurance in advance — we send it.
Booking the lift. We arrange the lift booking or protective covers with the management agent where required, and time the truck for the loading-bay window.
The clearance. Two or three of us, lift protected, corridors kept clear, items staged and loaded in short bursts.
Handover. Photos of the empty apartment and the communal areas left as we found them.

What affects the price in Offaly
Floor and lift — a fourth-floor walk-up is a different job from a ground-floor unit with a lift
Parking and loading-bay access — a 20-minute stopping window means more trips
Volume — most apartments are a half-day; penthouses and family apartments a full day
Management-company requirements — booked lift slots, out-of-hours work, insurance paperwork
Reuse — good flat-pack rarely survives disassembly, but good upholstered furniture does

Apartment Clearance in Offaly: frequently asked questions
Will the management company allow it?
Almost always, provided we have insurance on file with them and we book the lift or loading bay where required. We handle that paperwork — send us the agent’s details and we’ll sort it before the day.
Can you use the bin store?
No — and neither can you, for furniture. Almost every management company in Offaly bans bulky items from the bin store and will charge the owner for removing anything dumped there. We load straight onto the truck.
There’s no lift. Can you still do it?
Yes. Stairs are normal for us; we price by floor and carry carefully. Tell us the floor when you ask for a quote.
Do you take white goods?
Yes. Fridges, freezers, washing machines and cookers go for proper WEEE recycling — the council sites take these free, and so do we as part of the job.
Can you do it outside working hours?
Often yes, particularly where the building restricts moves to certain hours. Early morning and Saturday slots are available — ask when you book.
How quickly can you clear an apartment in Offaly?
Small jobs can usually be done within a day or two of asking; full clearances within the week, subject to lift booking.
How is apartment clearance different from flat clearance?
We use “apartment” for purpose-built developments with lifts, management companies and bin stores, and “flat” for converted houses, bedsits, above-shop flats and council flat complexes, which bring different access problems. Each has its own page for Offaly because the jobs are different.
Do you need the management company’s permission?
Usually they need notice rather than permission — a booked lift, our insurance on file, and a time window for the loading bay. We handle that with the agent once you give us their details.
Can you clear a furnished rental between tenants?
Yes — we take only what you tell us to and leave the landlord’s furniture in place. Photos before and after, and an invoice per unit for agents with several apartments.
What about the balcony and the storage cage?
Both included. Basement storage cages are a common forgotten space; tell us the cage number and we clear it in the same visit.
Will you take the bikes in the bike store?
Only your own, and only with the management company aware. Bikes left by previous residents are the management company’s call.
How much does an apartment clearance cost in Offaly?
A single item or a few pieces is a short van call; a full one- or two-bed apartment is typically a half-day with one truck; a large three-bed is a day. Floor, lift and loading-bay access move the price more than the furniture does. Photos get you a fixed quote the same day.
Does Offaly County Council collect bulky items?
No. Offaly County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Offaly from your base?
Offaly is closer to us than people expect: Edenderry is 40 minutes from Athy, Tullamore about an hour, Clara and Kilcormac a little more, and Birr, Banagher and the Shannon villages about an hour and a quarter. We’re in Offaly most weeks, so there’s usually a slot within a few days.
