Garage Clearance in Co. Offaly
Garages are where the house keeps what it can’t throw out. Tools, timber, tins of paint, the exercise bike, the second fridge. We clear the lot across Offaly and deal properly with the awkward stuff.

A garage clearance is a different beast from a house clearance. Less furniture, more weight: timber, tiles, bags of cement that have gone hard, car parts, a lawnmower that hasn’t started since 2015, paint tins, bottles of something, a chest freezer with the door taped shut. Much of it needs separating — paint, oil and chemicals can’t go in with the general load, timber is cheaper to dispose of on its own, metal is worth keeping apart.
We sort as we load so each stream goes where it should, and we’re permitted to carry it. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Offaly is closer to us than people expect: Edenderry is 40 minutes from Athy, Tullamore about an hour, Clara and Kilcormac a little more, and Birr, Banagher and the Shannon villages about an hour and a quarter. We’re in Offaly most weeks, so there’s usually a slot within a few days.

Full garage clearance in Offaly
Back to the walls and the floor. Shelving down if you want it gone, workbench out, everything on it and under it, the roof-space storage, the back corner nobody has reached in a decade. We separate timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous liquids and general waste on the way out and sweep the floor at the end. A single garage is normally a half-day with one truck; a double garage that’s been a workshop and a dump for thirty years is a day and often two loads because of the weight.
If the garage is being converted — into a room, a home office, a gym — we clear to a standard the builder can start on, including taking old fittings and any loose render off the floor.
Partial garage clearance in Offaly
The old appliances. The pile of timber. The tyres. The thirty paint tins. A partial garage job is usually about one category of thing that you can’t get rid of any other way — and often it’s the category the council site won’t take, or charges extra for. We’ll collect just that and leave your garage otherwise as it was.

Garage Clearance across Co. Offaly: every town we cover
We provide a garage clearance in all 37 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Offaly runs from the Kildare border at Edenderry across the bog country to the Shannon at Banagher and Shannonbridge, with Tullamore in the middle, Birr in the south-west and Clara, Ferbane and Kilcormac between. Offaly County Council has no bulky-waste collection but it does run three civic amenity sites — Derryclure outside Tullamore, Birr and Edenderry — all with a €3 car entry: Derryclure weighs furniture at 19c a kilo, while Birr and Edenderry charge per couch, armchair and bag, and Edenderry takes no garden waste, timber or rubble at all.
Tullamore has Georgian and Victorian terraces around the canal, 1960s–80s estates and big 2000s developments; Edenderry grew fast as a commuter town; Birr is a Georgian heritage town with tight streets; and the rest of the county is farmhouses, bungalows and villages with plenty of sheds. The old bog-village cottages often come with decades of accumulation.

Doing it yourself in Offaly: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Offaly County Council will and won’t do for a garage clearance. Timber is taken at Derryclure Civic Amenity Site & Waste Recycling Facility and Birr Recycling Centre, usually cheaper than general waste if it’s kept separate. Small amounts of household rubble and plasterboard are accepted at Derryclure Civic Amenity Site & Waste Recycling Facility and Birr Recycling Centre. Edenderry Recycling Centre won’t take construction waste. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Household paint, oil and chemicals are accepted at Derryclure Civic Amenity Site & Waste Recycling Facility, Birr Recycling Centre and Edenderry Recycling Centre, usually for a small charge. Watch the vehicle rules: Small vans (€10) and large vans (€20) admitted; single-axle trailer €10, double-axle €20; domestic waste only.
Offaly County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Offaly County Council does not run a household or bulky-waste kerbside collection. Bin collection is by private permitted collectors, and bulky items (furniture, mattresses, carpets) go to one of the three council civic amenity sites at Tullamore (Derryclure), Birr and Edenderry, all operated for the council by Oxigen Environmental, or are taken away by an authorised private collector. The council runs periodic free Mattress Amnesty days with Cirtex and Oxigen: in September 2025 one Saturday (10am to 2pm) at each of Birr, Edenderry and Derryclure, limit four mattresses per household, householders only, no commercial users.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How a garage clearance works with us
Photos. A wide shot from the door and a couple of close-ups of the heavy stuff. Tell us if there are chemicals, tyres or a freezer.
Fixed price. Quoted on what we see, with the separate streams (hazardous, tyres, WEEE) priced honestly.
The clearance. Sorted as we load — timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous and general on the truck separately.
Swept and done. Floor swept, shelving left or taken as agreed, photos sent.

What affects the price in Offaly
Weight — the big factor in garages; timber, tiles and cement cost by the tonne to dispose of
Hazardous items — paint, oil and chemicals have separate disposal costs
Tyres and appliances — priced per item
Access — a garage at the end of a long garden versus one on the driveway
Reuse and scrap — tools, metal and good timber reduce the bill

Garage Clearance in Offaly: frequently asked questions
Do you take paint, oil and chemicals?
Yes, in household quantities, separated from the general load and taken to a facility that handles them. There is a per-item or per-litre cost for these — we show it on the quote rather than hiding it.
Do you take tyres?
Yes, priced per tyre. Most council sites either refuse tyres or charge for them.
What about the old chest freezer?
Fridges and freezers go for WEEE recycling — the council sites take them free and we take them as part of the job. Empty it first if you can; if you can’t, tell us and we’ll deal with it.
Can you take the garage shelving and workbench?
Yes, dismantled and taken, or left if you want to keep it. Metal racking goes for scrap, which helps the price.
Will you clear it ready for a conversion?
Yes — back to bare walls and floor, old fittings off, loose material up. Tell the builder to send us their list.
Garage, shed and attic together in Offaly?
Absolutely, and it’s the most cost-effective way to do it — one crew, one truck, one day. See the shed clearance and attic clearance pages for Offaly.
Can you take a car engine or heavy machinery?
If it can be moved by two people or a sack truck, yes. Engine blocks, lathes and the like are heavy but fine. Anything needing a crane we arrange separately.
Do you take asbestos garage roofs?
No — asbestos cement sheets need a licensed contractor. We’ll point you to one and clear the garage once the roof is done.
What about half-full paint tins and old creosote?
Household quantities, yes, separated and taken for proper disposal. We charge per item for these because the facilities charge us per litre.
Can you clear a garage that’s been used as a workshop?
Yes — benches, vices, racking, tools, offcuts and swarf. Tools and metal are set aside for reuse or scrap, which brings the price down.
Do you offer same-day garage clearance in Offaly?
Sometimes. Offaly jobs are grouped into runs, so next-day is more realistic than same-day, but ask.
Does Offaly County Council collect bulky items?
No. Offaly County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Offaly from your base?
Offaly is closer to us than people expect: Edenderry is 40 minutes from Athy, Tullamore about an hour, Clara and Kilcormac a little more, and Birr, Banagher and the Shannon villages about an hour and a quarter. We’re in Offaly most weeks, so there’s usually a slot within a few days.
