Apartment Clearance in Co. Louth
Purpose-built apartments come with their own rules — lifts to book, bin stores you can’t use for furniture, management companies to keep onside. We clear apartments across Louth without the drama.
Apartment Clearance by county: DublinKildareWicklowKilkennyLaoisCarlowMeathLouthLongfordOffalyWestmeathWexford

An apartment clearance is a logistics job as much as a lifting one. The furniture is the same as a house — a sofa, a bed, a wardrobe, a table — but it has to come down a stairwell or through a lift that may need to be booked and protected, out through a lobby with a door code, past a bin store that explicitly bans bulky items, and onto a truck that is allowed to stop for twenty minutes at most. Get any of that wrong and the management company is on the phone.
We do this every week. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01, with public liability insurance that management agents will ask to see — we send it before we arrive. Louth is the furthest county we cover — Drogheda is about an hour and a half from Athy, Ardee and Dunleer a little more, and Dundalk and the Cooley peninsula around two hours. We run Louth jobs in batches, usually one or two days a fortnight, so we can keep the price fair; the trade-off is that we’ll offer you a date rather than a same-week slot.

Full apartment clearance in Louth
Everything out: furniture, beds and mattresses, white goods if the apartment isn’t being let furnished, the contents of the kitchen presses and the hot press, the balcony furniture and the bikes nobody collected. We protect the lift and the corridor walls, carry what won’t fit the lift down the stairs, and stage it in the loading bay or on the street in short bursts so nothing sits blocking a fire route. Most one- and two-bed apartments are a half-day job with one truck; a large three-bed penthouse with a full balcony is a day.
If it’s a landlord’s apartment between tenancies, we photograph it empty for your records. If it’s a sale, we leave it ready for the agent’s photographer.
Partial apartment clearance in Louth
The most common apartment job we do is partial: the old sofa and mattress a tenant left behind, the furniture that won’t fit the new place, the contents of one bedroom that’s become storage. Small apartment jobs are quick — often under an hour on site — so they’re priced accordingly. We can also do a “swap”: remove the old sofa the morning the new one is delivered so you’re never without one.
What we take — and what we don’t
- Sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes and flat-pack furniture
- White goods and small appliances
- Kitchen and bathroom contents
- Balcony furniture, plant pots, bikes
- Carpets, rugs, blinds and curtains
- Boxed belongings and general household waste
- Items dumped in bin stores and communal areas (for management companies)
Not included: Hazardous materials; Items belonging to other residents without the management company’s written say-so.
Apartment Clearance across Co. Louth: every town we cover
We provide an apartment clearance in all 29 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Louth is Ireland’s smallest county but it has two of its biggest towns: Drogheda in the south, straddling the Boyne, and Dundalk in the north under the Cooley mountains, with Ardee, Dunleer and the Castlebellingham villages between them and a run of coastal villages from Baltray up to Carlingford and Omeath. Louth County Council does not collect bulky waste. Its two civic amenity centres at Dundalk and Drogheda (both run by V&W Recycling) charge a €4 entry plus item charges that aren’t published online, and the annual mattress-and-couch amnesty in early September is the only free route for furniture.
Drogheda and Dundalk both have Victorian town-centre terraces, 1950s–70s council-built estates and large 2000s developments on the edges, plus apartment schemes near the stations and the quays. Ardee, Dunleer and the villages are smaller-scale, with farmhouses and bungalows on their own sites across mid-Louth and the Cooley peninsula. Town-centre parking in Drogheda and Dundalk is the main access issue.

Doing it yourself in Louth: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Louth County Council will and won’t do for an apartment clearance. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Dundalk Recycling Centre (V&W Civic Amenity Centre) and Drogheda Recycling Centre (V&W Civic Amenity Centre). Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Cars and car trailers admitted (trailer charge applies for green waste); no commercial vehicles or commercial waste. Van policy not published - ring ahead.
Louth County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Louth County Council does not collect household waste or bulky items and has no bookable bulky-waste service. It directs residents to the two civic amenity centres in Dundalk and Drogheda, both run by V&W Recycling, where beds, couches, carpet/lino, children's toys and bags of non-recyclable domestic waste are accepted for a charge (ring 042 9329200 or 041 9803900 for the price list - V&W do not publish bulky prices online), or to the nine authorised bulky-waste / skip operators the council lists (e.g. Pronto Waste Clearance & Recycling 087 2912911, Skips on Wheels 083 1552410). Once a year, under the Anti-Dumping Initiative, the council runs a free Mattress & Couch Amnesty, normally over two days in early September: in 2025 it was Wed 3 September 9:30am–5:30pm at the V&W centres in Dundalk and Drogheda and Thu 4 September 9:30am–3:30pm at Kieran & McGee Livestock Sales Yard, Ardee (A92 VP92); in 2024 it was 11–12 September at the same three locations. Only mattresses, sofas and armchairs are taken, maximum 3 items per vehicle, the council covers the disposal cost but the normal €4 entry charge still applies at Dundalk and Drogheda (Ardee is free). The 2025 event took in 2,233 mattresses and 2,124 couches. Dates are announced on louthcoco.ie and in the Dundalk Democrat / Drogheda Independent in August.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How an apartment clearance works with us
Photos and the building. Send photos plus the floor, lift situation and parking. Tell us if the management company needs insurance in advance — we send it.
Booking the lift. We arrange the lift booking or protective covers with the management agent where required, and time the truck for the loading-bay window.
The clearance. Two or three of us, lift protected, corridors kept clear, items staged and loaded in short bursts.
Handover. Photos of the empty apartment and the communal areas left as we found them.

What affects the price in Louth
Floor and lift — a fourth-floor walk-up is a different job from a ground-floor unit with a lift
Parking and loading-bay access — a 20-minute stopping window means more trips
Volume — most apartments are a half-day; penthouses and family apartments a full day
Management-company requirements — booked lift slots, out-of-hours work, insurance paperwork
Reuse — good flat-pack rarely survives disassembly, but good upholstered furniture does

We run Louth jobs in batches, usually one or two days a fortnight, so we can keep the price fair; the trade-off is that we’ll offer you a date rather than a same-week slot. Apartment Clearance in Louth: frequently asked questions
Will the management company allow it?
Almost always, provided we have insurance on file with them and we book the lift or loading bay where required. We handle that paperwork — send us the agent’s details and we’ll sort it before the day.
Can you use the bin store?
No — and neither can you, for furniture. Almost every management company in Louth bans bulky items from the bin store and will charge the owner for removing anything dumped there. We load straight onto the truck.
There’s no lift. Can you still do it?
Yes. Stairs are normal for us; we price by floor and carry carefully. Tell us the floor when you ask for a quote.
Do you take white goods?
Yes. Fridges, freezers, washing machines and cookers go for proper WEEE recycling — the council sites take these free, and so do we as part of the job.
Can you do it outside working hours?
Often yes, particularly where the building restricts moves to certain hours. Early morning and Saturday slots are available — ask when you book.
How quickly can you clear an apartment in Louth?
Small jobs can usually be done within a day or two of asking; full clearances within the week, subject to lift booking.
How is apartment clearance different from flat clearance?
We use “apartment” for purpose-built developments with lifts, management companies and bin stores, and “flat” for converted houses, bedsits, above-shop flats and council flat complexes, which bring different access problems. Each has its own page for Louth because the jobs are different.
Do you need the management company’s permission?
Usually they need notice rather than permission — a booked lift, our insurance on file, and a time window for the loading bay. We handle that with the agent once you give us their details.
Can you clear a furnished rental between tenants?
Yes — we take only what you tell us to and leave the landlord’s furniture in place. Photos before and after, and an invoice per unit for agents with several apartments.
What about the balcony and the storage cage?
Both included. Basement storage cages are a common forgotten space; tell us the cage number and we clear it in the same visit.
Will you take the bikes in the bike store?
Only your own, and only with the management company aware. Bikes left by previous residents are the management company’s call.
How much does an apartment clearance cost in Louth?
A single item or a few pieces is a short van call; a full one- or two-bed apartment is typically a half-day with one truck; a large three-bed is a day. Floor, lift and loading-bay access move the price more than the furniture does. Photos get you a fixed quote the same day.
Does Louth County Council collect bulky items?
No. Louth County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Louth from your base?
Louth is the furthest county we cover — Drogheda is about an hour and a half from Athy, Ardee and Dunleer a little more, and Dundalk and the Cooley peninsula around two hours. We run Louth jobs in batches, usually one or two days a fortnight, so we can keep the price fair; the trade-off is that we’ll offer you a date rather than a same-week slot.
