Junk removal is the simplest thing we do and the thing people put off longest. The old sofa in the garage. The broken wardrobe in the spare room. The bags from the clear-out that the bin lorry won’t take. The decking you pulled up. The fridge in the garden. It builds up because every option seems like a hassle — a skip costs a lot for what you have and sits on the drive for a week, the council site means a van you don’t own and a fee you don’t know, and the “man with a van” from a Facebook post may or may not be permitted to take it.
We make it easy: send a photo, get a price, pick a day, and we load it ourselves. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01 — so you know where it goes. Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip.

Full loads — when there’s a lot of it
A full truck load is the equivalent of a large skip, except we load it, it takes an hour instead of a week, and it costs less for most household jobs. Full loads are what we send for a garage, a garden, a shed, a renovation’s leftovers or a flat that’s been emptied into the hall. We sort as we load — timber, metal, WEEE and general separately — because disposal is charged by weight and type, and sorting keeps the price down. If it turns out to be more than one load, we tell you before we start the second.
Single items and small loads
Most junk jobs are small: one sofa, one mattress, one fridge, a few bags, the old bed after the new one came. We price these for what they are — a short stop with a van — and we try to fit them into a run already going through your area so they stay cheap. In Meath there is no council collection for bulky items, so a single-item collection from us is often the only alternative to a trip to the recycling centre with a van.
What we take — and what we don’t
- Sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes and tables
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers, TVs (WEEE)
- Bagged rubbish and loose junk
- Timber, decking, fencing and DIY leftovers
- Carpets, rugs, blinds and curtains
- Bikes, prams, toys, exercise equipment
- Garden junk — pots, furniture, broken sheds
- Small amounts of rubble, tiles and plasterboard
Not included: Hazardous waste beyond household paint and oil; Asbestos; Large quantities of rubble (ask — we can arrange a grab or skip).
Junk Removal across Co. Meath: every town we cover
We provide junk removal in all 52 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Meath is big and busy: the commuter towns along the Dublin border (Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Clonee) grew enormously in the 2000s; Navan, Trim and Kells are the old market towns in the middle; the coast strip from Laytown to Mornington looks to Drogheda; and the north and west — Oldcastle, Nobber, Athboy, Enfield — is rural and quiet. Meath County Council runs no bulky-waste collection. Its three recycling centres (Navan, Kells, Trim) charge a flat gate fee plus a price per item of furniture, and there is no council site at all in east Meath — people in Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne and the coast are sent to Dunboyne’s private facility or across the county line.
Expect large 2000s estates of semis and townhouses in the commuter towns, plenty of apartment schemes in Ashbourne, Navan and Dunboyne with management-company rules, Georgian and Victorian terraces in Navan, Trim and Kells town centres, and farmhouses with yards and outbuildings across the rest of the county. Long driveways and rural lanes are more of a factor here than parking.

Doing it yourself in Meath: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Meath County Council will and won’t do for junk removal. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Navan Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), Kells Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site) and Trim Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), with mattresses charged separately (Per item on top of the gate fee: single mattress €15, double €20, king €25 (Oxigen's own list says €30), mattress topper/duvet €5–€10, single divan €10, double divan €15, 3-seater couch €20, 2-seater €15, corner couch €35, armchair €12, patio table €10, patio chair €5, large carpet/lino roll €25, small roll €15, bag of carpet/lino €5, standard refuse sack of mixed domestic or non-recyclable waste €5, large plastic toy €5, toilet/cistern/basin €5, bath/shower tray €10). Dunboyne Recycling Facility (Thorntons Recycling) does not accept furniture or mattresses at all. Timber is taken at Navan Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), Kells Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site) and Trim Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), usually cheaper than general waste if it’s kept separate. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Cars, vans and trailers admitted; vans and trailers pay load-based rates (green waste small van €10, large van €50). Commercial vehicles charged separately (timber €40 per van or €1.50 per pallet, scrap metal €50 per load, cardboard €30 per van, paper €40 per van). Fair-usage policy applies.
Meath County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Meath County Council does not collect household or bulky waste from homes and does not run a bookable bulky-item collection. Bulky household waste is to be brought to the three council recycling centres at Navan, Kells and Trim (run under contract by Oxigen Environmental), where it is charged per item on top of a €2 gate fee, or to Thorntons Dunboyne. Alternatively use an authorised private collector (check the NWCPO permit register). The council does run several free amnesty / drop-off weeks each year: a free mattress drop-off (typically April; e.g. Navan 18 April, Trim 19 April, Thorntons Dunboyne 19 April, Kells 20 April in 2024), a free bulky-furniture week in late July/August (couches, beds, chairs, tables, wardrobes, outdoor furniture, garden equipment, toys, trampolines, flooring, sanitary ware - mattresses excluded) rotating through Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunboyne, and a Halloween anti-bonfire drop-off in late October (furniture suites, beds, divans, bed frames, flooring, duvets, pillows, toys, doors, windows - no mattresses, paint, domestic or green waste). Rules: householders only, Meath residents only (bring photo ID plus a utility bill or driving licence), no commercial customers, and the €2 gate fee still applies. The council said in April 2026 the mattress amnesty and a sofa amnesty would run again in 2026; dates are announced on meath.ie, the council's social media and in the Meath Chronicle, and enquiries go to environment@meathcoco.ie.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How junk removal works with us
Photo. One photo of the pile is usually enough.
Price. Fixed price back the same day, often within the hour.
Collection. We load it. You don’t have to carry anything to the road.
Gone. Sorted on the truck, disposed of under our permit.

What affects the price in Meath
Volume — single item, part load, full load
Weight — timber, rubble and books cost more than a sofa
Items with a disposal charge — mattresses, fridges, tyres, paint
Access — stairs, carry distance, parking
Route — if we’re already in your area that week, it’s cheaper

Junk Removal in Meath: frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper than a skip?
For most household jobs, yes. A skip is a fixed size you may not fill, needs a permit if it goes on the road, and sits for days. We charge for what we take and we load it. For a genuinely huge job a skip can win — we’ll tell you.
Do I have to carry it to the road?
No. We take it from where it is — the attic, the back garden, the third floor.
Do you take mattresses and fridges?
Yes. Both carry a disposal charge, which we show on the quote. Council sites charge for mattresses too; fridges are free at the council as WEEE.
How quickly can you come?
Small jobs usually within a day or two; same day is sometimes possible.
Where does it go?
Sorted on the truck; reusable items set aside; recyclables recycled; the rest to authorised facilities under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. You can have the details for the load.
Do you cover all of Meath?
Yes — every town and village on this page and the rural addresses between.
Can you collect from outside if nobody is home?
Yes — leave it in the garden, the driveway or the garage with the door open, send us a photo, and we collect and send a photo of the space clear.
Do you take builders’ rubble?
Small amounts, bagged — a few bags from a DIY job, yes. A skip-load of rubble is better with a grab lorry and we’ll say so.
Do you take garden waste as well as junk?
Yes — kept separate on the truck so the green waste is composted. See the garden waste page for Meath if that’s the main job.
What’s the smallest job you’ll do?
One item. A mattress, a fridge, a sofa. We fit small jobs into runs so they stay cheap.
Do you cover rural Meath?
Yes — every townland, not just the towns on this page. A long lane and a gate are normal for us.
Does Meath County Council collect bulky items?
No. Meath County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Meath from your base?
Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip.
