Junk removal is the simplest thing we do and the thing people put off longest. The old sofa in the garage. The broken wardrobe in the spare room. The bags from the clear-out that the bin lorry won’t take. The decking you pulled up. The fridge in the garden. It builds up because every option seems like a hassle — a skip costs a lot for what you have and sits on the drive for a week, the council site means a van you don’t own and a fee you don’t know, and the “man with a van” from a Facebook post may or may not be permitted to take it.
We make it easy: send a photo, get a price, pick a day, and we load it ourselves. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01 — so you know where it goes. From Athy we reach west Wicklow (Blessington, Baltinglass, Dunlavin) in about 40 minutes, Bray and Greystones in just over an hour via the M50, and Arklow and the coast in about 90 minutes. We group Wicklow jobs by side of the mountains to keep prices sensible.

Full loads — when there’s a lot of it
A full truck load is the equivalent of a large skip, except we load it, it takes an hour instead of a week, and it costs less for most household jobs. Full loads are what we send for a garage, a garden, a shed, a renovation’s leftovers or a flat that’s been emptied into the hall. We sort as we load — timber, metal, WEEE and general separately — because disposal is charged by weight and type, and sorting keeps the price down. If it turns out to be more than one load, we tell you before we start the second.
Single items and small loads
Most junk jobs are small: one sofa, one mattress, one fridge, a few bags, the old bed after the new one came. We price these for what they are — a short stop with a van — and we try to fit them into a run already going through your area so they stay cheap. In Wicklow there is no council collection for bulky items, so a single-item collection from us is often the only alternative to a trip to the recycling centre with a van.
What we take — and what we don’t
- Sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes and tables
- Fridges, freezers, washing machines, cookers, TVs (WEEE)
- Bagged rubbish and loose junk
- Timber, decking, fencing and DIY leftovers
- Carpets, rugs, blinds and curtains
- Bikes, prams, toys, exercise equipment
- Garden junk — pots, furniture, broken sheds
- Small amounts of rubble, tiles and plasterboard
Not included: Hazardous waste beyond household paint and oil; Asbestos; Large quantities of rubble (ask — we can arrange a grab or skip).
Junk Removal across Co. Wicklow: every town we cover
We provide junk removal in all 53 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Wicklow is really two counties divided by a mountain range. The east coast strip — Bray, Greystones, Wicklow Town, Arklow and the villages between — is where most people live, with good roads but tight older streets in the town centres. West Wicklow — Blessington, Baltinglass, Dunlavin, Tinahely, Carnew — is rural, closer to us, and the properties often come with sheds, barns and years of accumulation. The important thing about Wicklow: the council’s recycling centres do not accept furniture, mattresses, carpets or construction waste at all. There is no council route for bulky items in Wicklow — it’s a private collector or a skip.
Expect a mix of seaside terraces and apartments in Bray and Greystones, big detached houses in the hills around Enniskerry and Delgany, 1970s–90s estates in Wicklow Town and Arklow, and farmhouses and bungalows across the west of the county. Narrow lanes, steep driveways and long carries from the road are the Wicklow access issues we price for.

Doing it yourself in Wicklow: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Wicklow County Council will and won’t do for junk removal. Bray Recycling Centre, Wicklow (Murrough) Recycling Centre, Arklow Recycling Centre and Avoca (Ballymurtagh) Recycling Centre do not accept furniture or mattresses at all. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job.
Wicklow County Council — no bulky-waste collection. No regular council bulky-waste collection; household waste by private permitted collectors. Occasional one-off free 'Bulky Waste Day' events. Council recycling centre leaflets (Arklow, Avoca) explicitly list bulky furniture, mattresses, construction waste and tyres as NOT accepted — bulky items in Wicklow generally require a private collector or skip.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.

Photo. One photo of the pile is usually enough.
Price. Fixed price back the same day, often within the hour.
Collection. We load it. You don’t have to carry anything to the road.
Gone. Sorted on the truck, disposed of under our permit.

Items with a disposal charge — mattresses, fridges, tyres, paint
Access — stairs, carry distance, parking

Junk Removal in Wicklow: frequently asked questions
Is it cheaper than a skip?
For most household jobs, yes. A skip is a fixed size you may not fill, needs a permit if it goes on the road, and sits for days. We charge for what we take and we load it. For a genuinely huge job a skip can win — we’ll tell you.
Do I have to carry it to the road?
No. We take it from where it is — the attic, the back garden, the third floor.
Do you take mattresses and fridges?
Yes. Both carry a disposal charge, which we show on the quote. Wicklow’s council centres won’t take either, so we’re the practical option.
How quickly can you come?
Small jobs usually within a day or two; same day is sometimes possible.
Where does it go?
Sorted on the truck; reusable items set aside; recyclables recycled; the rest to authorised facilities under permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. You can have the details for the load.
Do you cover all of Wicklow?
Yes — every town and village on this page and the rural addresses between.
Can you collect from outside if nobody is home?
Yes — leave it in the garden, the driveway or the garage with the door open, send us a photo, and we collect and send a photo of the space clear.
Do you take builders’ rubble?
Small amounts, bagged — a few bags from a DIY job, yes. A skip-load of rubble is better with a grab lorry and we’ll say so.
Do you take garden waste as well as junk?
Yes — kept separate on the truck so the green waste is composted. See the garden waste page for Wicklow if that’s the main job.
What’s the smallest job you’ll do?
One item. A mattress, a fridge, a sofa. We fit small jobs into runs so they stay cheap.
Do you cover rural Wicklow?
Yes — every townland, not just the towns on this page. A long lane and a gate are normal for us.
Does Wicklow County Council collect bulky items?
No. Wicklow County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Wicklow from your base?
From Athy we reach west Wicklow (Blessington, Baltinglass, Dunlavin) in about 40 minutes, Bray and Greystones in just over an hour via the M50, and Arklow and the coast in about 90 minutes. We group Wicklow jobs by side of the mountains to keep prices sensible.
