Garage Clearance in Co. Longford
Garages are where the house keeps what it can’t throw out. Tools, timber, tins of paint, the exercise bike, the second fridge. We clear the lot across Longford and deal properly with the awkward stuff.

A garage clearance is a different beast from a house clearance. Less furniture, more weight: timber, tiles, bags of cement that have gone hard, car parts, a lawnmower that hasn’t started since 2015, paint tins, bottles of something, a chest freezer with the door taped shut. Much of it needs separating — paint, oil and chemicals can’t go in with the general load, timber is cheaper to dispose of on its own, metal is worth keeping apart.
We sort as we load so each stream goes where it should, and we’re permitted to carry it. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Longford is about an hour and three-quarters from our yard in Athy — Ballymahon and Edgeworthstown a little less, Granard, Drumlish and the north of the county a little more. We cover it by combining Longford jobs with Westmeath work on the same day, so ask for a date and we’ll fit you into the next run.

Full garage clearance in Longford
Back to the walls and the floor. Shelving down if you want it gone, workbench out, everything on it and under it, the roof-space storage, the back corner nobody has reached in a decade. We separate timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous liquids and general waste on the way out and sweep the floor at the end. A single garage is normally a half-day with one truck; a double garage that’s been a workshop and a dump for thirty years is a day and often two loads because of the weight.
If the garage is being converted — into a room, a home office, a gym — we clear to a standard the builder can start on, including taking old fittings and any loose render off the floor.
Partial garage clearance in Longford
The old appliances. The pile of timber. The tyres. The thirty paint tins. A partial garage job is usually about one category of thing that you can’t get rid of any other way — and often it’s the category the council site won’t take, or charges extra for. We’ll collect just that and leave your garage otherwise as it was.

Garage Clearance across Co. Longford: every town we cover
We provide a garage clearance in all 32 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Longford is small, flat and rural: Longford Town in the middle, Granard in the north, Edgeworthstown on the N4, Ballymahon and Lanesborough on the Shannon side, and dozens of villages between. Longford County Council has no council-run recycling centre at all — both civic amenity sites are operated by Mulleadys, the Longford Town one only opens Wednesdays and Saturdays, prices aren’t published, and there is no bulky-waste collection. Once or twice a year the council runs a Large Goods day at Drumlish at a flat charge per car or trailer.
Longford housing is older than most of Leinster’s: town-centre terraces in Longford Town and Granard, 1970s–80s bungalows on their own sites, farmhouses with full ranges of outbuildings, and a scatter of 2000s estates on the edges of the towns. Sheds, hay barns and the contents of a lifetime of farming come up in almost every Longford clearance.

Doing it yourself in Longford: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Longford County Council will and won’t do for a garage clearance. Longford Civic Amenity Site (Mulleadys), Westlink Business Park and Mulleadys Civic Amenity Site, Drumlish (Cloonaugh) won’t take construction waste. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Household paint, oil and chemicals are accepted at Longford Civic Amenity Site (Mulleadys), Westlink Business Park and Mulleadys Civic Amenity Site, Drumlish (Cloonaugh), usually for a small charge. Watch the vehicle rules: Small domestic and small commercial loads only; large vans and trailer loads should use Drumlish — confirm by phone.
Longford County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Longford County Council does not run a kerbside or bookable bulky-waste collection. Instead it organises periodic Large Goods Collection days (typically one or two a year, Friday or Saturday mornings 10am–1pm) at Mulleadys Civic Amenity Site in Drumlish, sometimes with a second drop-off point in Longford town. At these events the charge is per vehicle, not per item: €20 per car, €30 per car with single-axle trailer, €40 per car with double-axle trailer or large van; tractors and trailers are not admitted. Accepted: beds, mattresses, sofas, furniture, carpets, children's toys, bicycles and household scrap metal. Not accepted: paint, electrical goods, PVC, plastic oil tanks, construction and demolition waste, lead, tiles, ceramics, broken glass. A household hazardous waste collection (per-kilo charge) is sometimes run alongside. No booking is required; dates are announced on longfordcoco.ie and council social media. Year-round, bulky items go to the two Mulleadys civic amenity sites or to a permitted private collector. Furniture in good condition can be donated to the Revamp 3R Store, Longford.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.
How a garage clearance works with us
Photos. A wide shot from the door and a couple of close-ups of the heavy stuff. Tell us if there are chemicals, tyres or a freezer.
Fixed price. Quoted on what we see, with the separate streams (hazardous, tyres, WEEE) priced honestly.
The clearance. Sorted as we load — timber, metal, WEEE, hazardous and general on the truck separately.
Swept and done. Floor swept, shelving left or taken as agreed, photos sent.

What affects the price in Longford
Weight — the big factor in garages; timber, tiles and cement cost by the tonne to dispose of
Hazardous items — paint, oil and chemicals have separate disposal costs
Tyres and appliances — priced per item
Access — a garage at the end of a long garden versus one on the driveway
Reuse and scrap — tools, metal and good timber reduce the bill

Garage Clearance in Longford: frequently asked questions
Do you take paint, oil and chemicals?
Yes, in household quantities, separated from the general load and taken to a facility that handles them. There is a per-item or per-litre cost for these — we show it on the quote rather than hiding it.
Do you take tyres?
Yes, priced per tyre. Most council sites either refuse tyres or charge for them.
What about the old chest freezer?
Fridges and freezers go for WEEE recycling — the council sites take them free and we take them as part of the job. Empty it first if you can; if you can’t, tell us and we’ll deal with it.
Can you take the garage shelving and workbench?
Yes, dismantled and taken, or left if you want to keep it. Metal racking goes for scrap, which helps the price.
Will you clear it ready for a conversion?
Yes — back to bare walls and floor, old fittings off, loose material up. Tell the builder to send us their list.
Garage, shed and attic together in Longford?
Absolutely, and it’s the most cost-effective way to do it — one crew, one truck, one day. See the shed clearance and attic clearance pages for Longford.
Can you take a car engine or heavy machinery?
If it can be moved by two people or a sack truck, yes. Engine blocks, lathes and the like are heavy but fine. Anything needing a crane we arrange separately.
Do you take asbestos garage roofs?
No — asbestos cement sheets need a licensed contractor. We’ll point you to one and clear the garage once the roof is done.
What about half-full paint tins and old creosote?
Household quantities, yes, separated and taken for proper disposal. We charge per item for these because the facilities charge us per litre.
Can you clear a garage that’s been used as a workshop?
Yes — benches, vices, racking, tools, offcuts and swarf. Tools and metal are set aside for reuse or scrap, which brings the price down.
Do you offer same-day garage clearance in Longford?
Sometimes. Longford jobs are grouped into runs, so next-day is more realistic than same-day, but ask.
Does Longford County Council collect bulky items?
No. Longford County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Longford from your base?
Longford is about an hour and three-quarters from our yard in Athy — Ballymahon and Edgeworthstown a little less, Granard, Drumlish and the north of the county a little more. We cover it by combining Longford jobs with Westmeath work on the same day, so ask for a date and we’ll fit you into the next run.
