Storage units fill up with good intentions. The furniture from the old house that was going to be used again. The stock from a business that closed. A parent’s belongings after a clearance, put away until the family could face them. The monthly direct debit keeps going out, and after a couple of years it has cost more than the contents are worth. Then there’s the practical problem: the unit is on the second floor of a facility with one goods lift, a trolley you have to book, and a gate that closes at six.
We clear units in one visit, within the facility’s hours, with our own trolleys and a crew that knows how the lifts work. ManageWaste.ie is operated by Krystal Klean Express Limited, permit NWCPO-25-13287-01. Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters. We cover it by grouping Meath jobs on set days each week, so a one-off job here is priced as part of a round rather than a special trip.

Full storage unit clearance in Meath
The unit emptied to the walls in one visit — furniture, boxes, appliances, business stock, whatever is in there — loaded onto our truck in the facility’s loading bay and gone. We sort as we load: anything you’ve asked us to keep is set aside; good furniture goes for reuse; boxes you haven’t looked at in years can be opened on the spot if you want to decide, or brought to you to go through. We sign out with the facility and you cancel the unit that day. A standard 50–100 sq ft unit is an hour or two; a large unit or a container is a half-day.
Partial storage unit clearance — downsizing the unit
Sometimes the aim is a smaller unit, not no unit. We take out the bulky furniture and the things you’ve decided against, and you move what’s left to a cheaper size. Or we clear a parent’s unit of everything except the boxes marked “keep” and bring those to you. Partial unit jobs are priced on what comes out.
What we take — and what we don’t
- Furniture, beds, mattresses and household contents
- Boxed belongings — opened and sorted with you if wanted
- Business stock, fittings and archive boxes
- Appliances and electricals (WEEE)
- Containers and lock-ups as well as indoor units
- Working to the facility’s hours, lift bookings and trolley rules
- Sign-out with the facility office
Not included: Items the facility has a lien on (sort that with them first); Hazardous goods stored against the facility’s rules.
Storage Unit Clearance across Co. Meath: every town we cover
We provide a storage unit clearance in all 52 towns and villages below, and at the rural addresses between them. Meath is big and busy: the commuter towns along the Dublin border (Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Clonee) grew enormously in the 2000s; Navan, Trim and Kells are the old market towns in the middle; the coast strip from Laytown to Mornington looks to Drogheda; and the north and west — Oldcastle, Nobber, Athboy, Enfield — is rural and quiet. Meath County Council runs no bulky-waste collection. Its three recycling centres (Navan, Kells, Trim) charge a flat gate fee plus a price per item of furniture, and there is no council site at all in east Meath — people in Ashbourne, Ratoath, Dunboyne and the coast are sent to Dunboyne’s private facility or across the county line.
Meath business sits in Navan’s and Ashbourne’s industrial estates, the Kells and Trim business parks, the M3 and M4 corridors around Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin and Enfield, and the agri and equine businesses everywhere else. Access is good; the distance is what we plan around.

Doing it yourself in Meath: what the council offers
Before you ring anyone, here is the honest picture of what Meath County Council will and won’t do for a storage unit clearance. Furniture and bulky items are accepted at Navan Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), Kells Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site) and Trim Recycling Centre (Civic Amenity Site), with mattresses charged separately (Per item on top of the gate fee: single mattress €15, double €20, king €25 (Oxigen's own list says €30), mattress topper/duvet €5–€10, single divan €10, double divan €15, 3-seater couch €20, 2-seater €15, corner couch €35, armchair €12, patio table €10, patio chair €5, large carpet/lino roll €25, small roll €15, bag of carpet/lino €5, standard refuse sack of mixed domestic or non-recyclable waste €5, large plastic toy €5, toilet/cistern/basin €5, bath/shower tray €10). Dunboyne Recycling Facility (Thorntons Recycling) does not accept furniture or mattresses at all. Electrical items — fridges, washing machines, TVs, computers — are free to drop at every council site as WEEE, and we take them as part of any job. Watch the vehicle rules: Cars, vans and trailers admitted; vans and trailers pay load-based rates (green waste small van €10, large van €50). Commercial vehicles charged separately (timber €40 per van or €1.50 per pallet, scrap metal €50 per load, cardboard €30 per van, paper €40 per van). Fair-usage policy applies.
Meath County Council — no bulky-waste collection. Meath County Council does not collect household or bulky waste from homes and does not run a bookable bulky-item collection. Bulky household waste is to be brought to the three council recycling centres at Navan, Kells and Trim (run under contract by Oxigen Environmental), where it is charged per item on top of a €2 gate fee, or to Thorntons Dunboyne. Alternatively use an authorised private collector (check the NWCPO permit register). The council does run several free amnesty / drop-off weeks each year: a free mattress drop-off (typically April; e.g. Navan 18 April, Trim 19 April, Thorntons Dunboyne 19 April, Kells 20 April in 2024), a free bulky-furniture week in late July/August (couches, beds, chairs, tables, wardrobes, outdoor furniture, garden equipment, toys, trampolines, flooring, sanitary ware - mattresses excluded) rotating through Navan, Trim, Kells and Dunboyne, and a Halloween anti-bonfire drop-off in late October (furniture suites, beds, divans, bed frames, flooring, duvets, pillows, toys, doors, windows - no mattresses, paint, domestic or green waste). Rules: householders only, Meath residents only (bring photo ID plus a utility bill or driving licence), no commercial customers, and the €2 gate fee still applies. The council said in April 2026 the mattress amnesty and a sofa amnesty would run again in 2026; dates are announced on meath.ie, the council's social media and in the Meath Chronicle, and enquiries go to environment@meathcoco.ie.

Council details are taken from the councils’ own published information and checked periodically; hours and charges change, so confirm with the site before travelling. Where a council hasn’t published a charge we say so rather than guess.
Or we come to you
Set that against a collection from us: no van to borrow, no gate fee, no weighbridge surprise, no two-mattress limit, no carrying it down the stairs yourself, and no question about whether the site will turn your load away. We quote a fixed price from photos, we load it, and it leaves under our waste collection permit (NWCPO-25-13287-01). For a single item the council site can be cheaper if you already have the van and the time; for anything more than a car-boot load, we usually are.

Storage Unit Clearance in Meath: frequently asked questions
Can you clear a unit without me there?
Yes, if the facility allows it — most do with your written authorisation and a code. We photograph the unit before and after.
Do you know the storage facilities in Meath?
The main ones, yes — we work in them regularly. Tell us which, and we’ll know the lift, the trolley rules and the hours.
Can you bring some things to me and dispose of the rest?
Yes. Tag or list what you want, and we deliver those and dispose of the rest in the same trip.
What about a unit that belonged to someone who has died?
We do these carefully. The facility will need the executor’s authorisation; after that we clear the unit, set aside anything personal, and bring it to the family.
Can you clear a shipping container or a lock-up?
Yes — containers on yards and lock-ups behind houses are common in Meath, and the only difference is the access for our truck.
How quickly?
Usually within the week; small units often within a day or two.
Can you take a business’s archive boxes for shredding?
Yes — bagged for confidential shredding through our partner, with a certificate, or archived if you prefer.
The unit has a padlock and I’ve lost the key.
The facility can usually cut it with your authorisation. Arrange that with them first and we do the rest.
Can you clear a unit in another county and bring things to me?
Yes — clearing a unit in Dublin and delivering keepsakes to Meath, or the reverse, is a normal job for us.
Do you deal with the facility’s paperwork?
We sign in and out and can hand the keys or fob back to the office. Cancelling the account is yours to do.
What if the unit is bigger than I thought?
We tell you before we start the second load, not after. The quote is based on the unit size and your photos; if it’s packed to the ceiling, say so.
Does Meath County Council collect bulky items?
No. Meath County Council does not run a bulky-waste collection. Your options are the council recycling centres listed above — with their charges and limits — or a permitted private collector like us.
How far is Meath from your base?
Meath is a proper run for us — south Meath (Enfield, Dunboyne, Dunshaughlin, Ashbourne) is about an hour from Athy via the M4 and M50, Navan and Trim roughly 80 minutes, and Kells, Oldcastle and the coast around Laytown nearer an hour and three-quarters.
